Do you love outdoor activities and a bustling brewery scene? South Knoxville may be the perfect location for your next home. South Knoxville is home to the Urban Wilderness trail system, multiple craft breweries, farm-to-table restaurants, antique shops and more. In this South Knoxville highlight, we will explore some of the fantastic businesses and activities that locals enjoy each and every day.
Enjoy a Meal
Simpl – This intimate farm-to-table restaurant features a creative menu designed to showcase food products from many East Tennessee vendors. Although Simpl offers a delicious dinner selection, our favorite meal is brunch! Make sure to try a beermosa while you’re there.
Landing House – Situated in a unique blue house near the waterfront, Landing House is a casual restaurant that showcases a blend of Chinese, Cambodian and French inspired cuisine. Their menu truly has something for everyone!
SoKno – This taco cantina is a great place to relax after a day of hiking or biking. With floor to ceiling retractable garage doors, SoKno can quickly transform their space for open air dining. Enjoy their “One of a Kind Queso” made with smoked gouda and mezclar la carne.
Sweet P’s Barbeque and Soul House – This BBQ joint is the go-to place for locals looking for classic soul food and good music. The Soul House showcases great musicians on a regular basis so you can enjoy some tunes while you dine.
Grab a Pint
Alliance Brewing – This craft brewery features 12 taps, many of which are their own great brews. You can park your bike right out front after a day on the trails, and if you get hungry, you can visit Simpl next door. Make sure to try the CMS IPA or the Kolsch!
Printshop Beer Co. – If you like to try a variety of beer styles, Printshop Beer Co. has you covered! They brew everything from crisp IPAs to Farmhouse Saisons. We recommend the Hand Crank Pale Ale, the Neon Renaissance Gose or the Baker Creek Brown.
Bike and Hike the Trails
Ijams Nature Center – Whether you want to take an easy stroll on a paved path, mountain bike or paddle board on the river, Ijams Nature Center has it all. We recommend starting your adventure at the Welcome Center where you can park and grab a map to plan your day.
Fort Dickerson Park – Just over the Henley Street Bridge, you will find Fort Dickerson Park. This park is home to multiple scenic overlooks, a Civil War Earthen Fort and a beautiful quarry lake. You can enjoy a summer swim or simply take in the beautiful views.
Find Hidden Treasure
Bargain Hunters Antique and Flea Market Mall – If you love the thrill of searching for hidden antique treasure or a good thrift deal, Bargain Hunters will be your perfect playground. This store has more than 300 vendor booths with everything from vintage china to furniture and vinyl records. You never know what you will find!
